The Cupcake Lounge is owned and operated by Laura Porter. Laura was born and raised in Ottawa, and spent her early years working at a wedding venue, where The Cupcake Lounge cupcakes were a common wedding dessert. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at Memorial University, Laura decided to take the Baking and Pastry Arts program at Algonquin College.

Fast forward a few years and a global pandemic, a management position at TCL became available, which when offered the job, Laura jumped at. 

After a few years of working as the manager, the opportunity to take over arose, and once again, Laura jumped at the chance.

With the experience Laura had from the Baking and Pastry Arts program, the knowledge gained from working alongside the previous owner, and the support of family, friends and the amazing staff, the position of owner was a perfect fit.
